Classic looking yachts returned to Tauranga over the weekend as the inaugural Canterbury J class North Island championships took place B rigs were the order of the day as the wind was not only strong but shifty.
A course was set by Race Officer Carl Smith with a start in the middle of the course and gates top and bottom this allowed for unfamiliar Skippers of these boats to spread out over a large area.
13 races were conducted and by 2:30 we decided to conclude and trial settings amongst us.
Special thanks to Carl for giving up his Saturday and the Christchurch Crew for supporting our idea.
Congratulations to Dave Panting for claiming the trophy.
Scores as done at venue as I’m having trouble with loading them on to the computer programme
Thank you Ken Fox
