Twenty three brave souls attended the Metre Monthly at Westhaven. It started off as showers and they became more frequent. We ran 14 windward leeward courses, with a downwind finish on the boat ramp side (due to the wind having more west than forecast). The breeze was light, and the water relatively flat. We kept it to one fleet, and once again the competitor behaviour was brilliant with people doing turns (often without being asked which was a pleasant change), and a generally friendly atmosphere on the jetty, which is great for our sport.
Ian Vickers showed why is numero uno in NZ (and AUS) with a dominant display of consistency, and Phil Pryde and Brett May both showed good speed to finish 2nd and 3rd respectively.
All the best to Ian and Phil for their Worlds mission next month, and with some donations we were pleased with the $585.00 raised to assist them with the worlds expenses.
Thanks to Linton Little for assisting with the scoring, and to John McPherson for the A-Fleet app we used to score the day.
